Frequently Asked Questions

Are you registered with a professional body?

Yes, I am registered with the NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society). My membership number is: NCPS1928

What is the first session like?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you may have. This is also a chance for you to ask questions and see if we're a good fit. We offer a free 15-minute initial consultation to help you feel comfortable before committing to therapy.

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies for each individual depending on your goals and needs. Some people find short-term therapy (6-12 sessions) helpful, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll work together to develop a plan that's right for you and regularly review your progress.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. Everything discussed in our sessions remains private, with very few exceptions (such as if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others). We can discuss the limits of confidentiality in your first session so you feel completely comfortable.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes! We offer both in-person sessions in Falmouth and online video sessions. Online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy and offers the convenience of meeting from your own home. You can choose whichever format feels most comfortable for you.

How much do sessions cost?

Please contact us directly to discuss session fees and payment options. We want to ensure therapy is accessible and will work with you to find an arrangement that suits your situation. The initial 15-minute consultation is always free.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Life happens, and we understand that sometimes you need to change your appointment. We ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to offer the time to someone else who may need it.

What issues can therapy help with?

Therapy can help with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, self-esteem issues, and more. If you're unsure whether therapy is right for your situation, please get in touch for a free consultation where we can discuss your specific needs.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment by emailing sam@newgroundtherapy.co.uk or calling 07871 405 703. We'll arrange a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and schedule your first session.

What qualifications do you have?

Sam is a qualified therapist with professional training and experience in providing counselling and therapeutic support. For more information about qualifications and approach, please visit our About page or get in touch directly.

What happens if therapy isn't working for me?

Your therapeutic experience is important, and it's okay if our approach isn't the right fit. We'll regularly check in about your progress and how you're finding the sessions. If needed, we can adjust our approach or discuss alternative options that might better suit your needs.
